New to the Portal: Adaptation in Action

The Federation of Canadian Municipalities’ Green Municipal Fund (GMF) offers three funding opportunities through its Adaptation in Action programs to help communities assess, plan, and implement projects that reduce climate risks.
Rapid Adaptation Projects: Adaptation in Action offers grants of up to $75,000 to small and rural municipalities, eligible Indigenous communities, and eligible municipal partners working with a municipality. Funding supports practical measures to address wildfire, flooding, extreme heat, and community facility resilience. Projects must be completed within two years.
Deadline: November 10, 2026
Implementation Projects: Adaptation in Action supports municipalities and eligible partner organizations implementing larger climate adaptation projects, with eligible project expenses of up to $1 million. Examples include flood protection, wildfire mitigation, green infrastructure, wetland restoration and resilient public facilities. Projects must be completed within three years.
Deadline: November 10, 2026
Feasibility Study: Adaptation in Action provides grants of up to $70,000 to municipalities, First Nations and municipal-owned organizations to assess the technical, financial, legal and operational feasibility of proposed climate adaptation projects. Studies must address a priority climate risk and assess projects that could qualify for implementation funding, with eligible implementation costs of no more than $1 million.

New to the Portal: Supportive Housing Expression of Interest

The Nova Scotia Department of Opportunities and Social Development invites applications for operational funding to create or expand permanent supportive housing in Pictou County, Kings County, and Lunenburg County.
Supportive housing combines permanent housing with individualized, ongoing supports to help people experiencing homelessness achieve housing stability, improve their well-being and maintain long-term housing.
Who can apply?
Eligible applicants must be legally established and operating in Nova Scotia, with experience supporting people with complex needs or a credible partnership model that provides this experience. Municipalities may apply directly or partner formally with an eligible service provider.

New to the Portal: Food Hub Program
- Details
Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada’s Food Hub Program offers funding to expand, modernize or establish food hubs that connect local food producers with markets and strengthen regional food supply chains.
Eligible projects can receive up to $25 million per organization. Activities may include facility construction and upgrades, food storage and processing equipment, digital infrastructure, supply chain improvements and logistics capacity.
Eligible applicants:Incorporated Canadian businesses, not-for-profit organizations, qualifying municipal governments and agencies, and Indigenous organizations.
Funding details: Up to 50% of eligible costs; applicants must provide at least 50%.
Deadline: December 11, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. Pacific Time. The intake may close earlier if funding is fully committed.
New to the Portal: Stormwater Transformation Optimization and Resilience for Municipalities (STORM)

The Province of Nova Scotia has launched the Stormwater Transformation Optimization and Resilience for Municipalities (STORM) program, a one-time $1.9-million program that supports municipalities with stormwater planning, flood-risk assessment, and climate resilience.
Eligible projects may include hydrological modelling, mapping, stormwater infrastructure inventories and assessments, planning and feasibility studies, and updates to bylaws, design standards and governance models.
Eligible applicants: Nova Scotia municipalities, towns and villages.
Funding: Up to 50% of eligible costs for individual applications and up to 75% for joint applications.
Deadline: November 12, 2026
New to the Portal: Access to Heritage – Museums Assistance Program

Canadian Heritage's Access to Heritage – Museums Assistance Program supports the development and circulation of travelling exhibitions that help Canadian heritage organizations reach new audiences and improve access to Canada’s diverse cultural and natural heritage.
Deadline: November 1, 2026
Open to:
- Incorporated, non-profit Canadian museums that:
- Employ at least one paid professional staff member
- Have policies in place for key museum functions
- Incorporated, non-profit Canadian service organizations whose membership relates to the museum sector, such as museum associations, that employ at least one paid professional staff member
- Indigenous governing bodies
- Indigenous organizations in Canada with a mandate to preserve and support First Nations, Inuit and/or Métis heritage.

Through the CFNS VISIONS Fund, the Community Foundation of Nova Scotia (CFNS) supports initiatives across Nova Scotia that strengthen inclusion and opportunity for people facing significant challenges, as well as innovative educational programs and teaching methods.

EcoAction Stream 2: Freshwater Sustainability and Innovation across Canada, funded by the Canada Water Agency, supports innovative projects that improve freshwater quality and ecosystem health, advance freshwater-related circular economy opportunities, and strengthen freshwater data and management across Canada.
